CHANGE AS A PROCESS

You must have met people who were singing the song of CHANGE as they were trying hard to change themselves into what is so called ‘Good or Proper’.

There is a long journey toward a completely changed person. In most cases, It doesn’t take only a minute,an hour or a day for a person to change. It may take a week, months or even a year to note the changes that have taken place in people.

So I can describe CHANGE as the process and not an action to whoever wants a full transformation.

Drawing examples from Tanzania and other Communities, a number of people have learned the side effects of Smoking and Drinking so they at sometime want to stop but wait, did they succeed to fly away from drunkard companies?

Maybe yes, they succeeded in not less than a couple of months and above. Psychologists can confirm that it needs a Process of Change  for the real changes to effect. At the end, we can all view change as a process.

•Why do the Process of Change need time to effect?

★ It needs time because of the following:

  • Every change begins with the in-person desire, freedom of mind and willingness. The must ask question is “Do I want to quit from this particular behaviour?”
  • Every person subjected to change must act on it not only himself but with the help of trained or skillful individuals.
  • You can add yours.

Therefore an alcoholic person may quit from alcoholism (if that is bad to him/her) through a step by step activity, the process of change. Start today and enjoy the consequences of your efforts to quit bad behaviours, now and later.

The reason why people often find themselves in situations that make them feel uncomfortable is because they are afraid to change anything about it. But without change there will certainly be no progress. – Aboud
