POEM- IS IT THE EXTRA MELANIN IN OUR SKINS?

This is to support the ongoing movement and protest against oppression of black people by the system in America and all over the world. This poem is dedicated to black people and everyone else supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
IS IT THE EXTRA MELANIN IN OUR SKINS?
If you needed a kidney and I offered one,
Would you refuse it because of hate?
If we donated our blood,
Would you stop the transfusion because it was carried by a darker shade?
No, because right at that moment, I’m a perfect match.
So what is it?
Is it the extra melanin in our skins?
What is it that we carry that scares you so much?
What potential do you see in us that makes you afraid of our touch?
We are like eggs that you fight so hard for them not to hatch
What is it?
Is it the extra melanin in our skins?
Over and over again
We remind you of our pain
But every time you flush it down the drain
We are the same, despite of the color of our skins… That! I won’t remind you again.
It is obvious. It is clear. You just don’t give a damn
So what is it?
Is it the extra melanin in our skins?
Slavery
Death
Longer prison sentences
Unequal opportunities to education and Jobs
The list goes on.
Man! I CAN’T BREATH!!
