THE FINAL JOURNEY [JANAZA]

SOCIAL MEDIA is AWASH with two DISTINCT INCIDENCES yesterday. TWO PROMINENT INDIVIDUALS in the corridors of power in Kenya and beyond. One, a STAUNCH CHRISTIAN and another a DEVOUT MUSLIM. Both are PRETTY WEALTHY and have all THAT ONE NEEDS. Both BRUSHED SHOULDERS with the MIGHTY GLOBALLY. But the INEVITABLE HAPPENED and both WERE LAID TO REST in two VERY DIFFERENT STYLES.

THE DIFFERENCE is that we as Muslims have been given a DIVINE DIRECT COMMAND to WASH our dead, PERFUME him/her, SHROUD him/ her, PRAY FOR the dead, CARRY him/ her to the FINAL RESTING PLACE. DIG THE GRAVE ( and this is not a reserve of the drunkards and destitute who may do it at a fee) REGARDLESS of CLASS, TRIBE, RACE, COLOUR, or POLITICAL INCLINATION. NO PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT at all.

The JANAZA is carried by all in a COMPETITIVE SYMPHONY for REWARDS. No FAKE EULOGIES, no SHOWOFF, no HYPOCRISY, no DRESSING CONTEST, no CATERING CONTEST and EXTRAVAGANCE, no WASTAGE OF TIME and RESOURCES, and the list is long. ISLAMIC BURIAL RIGHTS was, is, and will ALWAYS REMAIN THE BEST. See the sense and EMBRACE it, folks.

Narrated Al-Bara’ bin `Azib: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) ordered us to do seven things and forbade us to do other seven. He ordered us: to follow the funeral procession. to visit the sick, to accept invitations, to help the oppressed, to fulfill the oaths, to return the greeting and to reply to the sneezer: (saying, “May Allah be merciful on you,” provided the sneezer says, “All the praises are for Allah,”). He forbade us to use silver utensils and dishes and to wear golden rings, silk (clothes), Dibaj (pure silk cloth), Qissi and Istabraq (two kinds of silk cloths).
